Seeking God’s Kingdom with Laser Vision
Laser Island located in Upland, CA, is the result of a lot of prayer , a lot of research, and a lot of hard work. Faced with losing a real estate career during the real estate downturn, I had a wife and five kids who still needed to eat. I began looking at just about every business idea imaginable. The economy was down and deciding on a laser tag facility came from watching an out-of -town facility that the kids always flocked to but had to travel to get there. Soon, we realized that a laser tag facility didn’t exist in our neck of the woods. Kids love laser tag and parents love spending money on their kids, even in tough times. We thought we could create an even better facility here in Upland for local families to enjoy.
We took the next step and I formed a corporate partnership with a friend of mine and began the journey. After searching high and low for a location and money, we finally found a vacant space in an Upland shopping center that seemed perfect. Many hurdles stood before us—the spot we found had been vacant for about 12 years, the landlord was not motivated to work with us, and the place was crammed full of junk , floor to ceiling.
After convincing the landlord we were serious and going through the whole city permit process, we began building.
God moved throughout the building process and we worked hard and remained patient . After about a year and a few months, Laser Island opened its doors to the public in November of 2008. We have experienced God’s blessings as our business has flourished in this economy. We love to see families, churches, schools, and businesses come in and build great memories together.
God has blessed us and it has always been our goal to serve and bless the community through customer service, donations, and just going out of our way to create great family memories that will last a lifetime in the hearts of our customers. Laser Island is in the process of opening other locations in the L.A. area and we are excited to bring our concept into these new markets.
God’s Word contains many great verses, and one that I cling to is Mathew 6:33, “Seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these things shall be added unto you.” We have seen this work in our business as we had to trust God throughout the entire process and have seen Him move in our midst. God will guide your steps if you seek and trust in Him.
