Jonathan & Ruth Santamaria are a treasure and a gift to our Children’s Ministry! Jonathan is a Public School Teacher and has a Master’s Degree in Instructional Technology. Ruth has been a Latin American Bible Institute Teacher for more than twenty years, currently working on her Master’s Degree in Christian Education.
They are passionate about teaching children the Bible in innovative and attractive ways. They both lead Granite Creek Children’s Ministry, Nursery through 6th Grade.
We believe that teaching the Bible is part of the Great Commission, “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.” - Matthew 28:19-20. We strive to educate children according to the scriptures and promote a deep understanding of them. Our goal is for children to live life, making decisions based on the principles of the Bible on a daily basis.
K-5th Grade Ministry on Sundays
Classes for K-5th Grade are offered at both the 9:30 & 11:00am Sunday morning services. Children meet upstairs in different classrooms according to their school grade level.
“Big City Studio” is a hands-on and activity-based learning program for K-5th Grades. We also incorporate a Children’s Church worship time. Our lessons are enhanced by highly effective skits, professional puppeteers, and game-based learning experiences. Our general theme is a film studio, where the students participate in skits that enhance the biblical experience.
We have an incentive program of Creek Points that students receive for their participation during the lesson every Sunday. They also get to redeem their Creek Points right after service in a student store upstairs.
Special Needs Thrive Program - We also offer classes and buddies for children with special needs through our Thrive Program http://www.granitecreek.org/special-needs-kids-thrive/ during the 11:00 am Sunday morning service. We encourage a “meet & greet” with Coordinator Jennifer Maglio before attending this class. For more information contact Jennifer Maglio at (909) 263-4073 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
The Wednesday Creekers Club
We have a ton of fun on Wednesday nights! We call it the Wednesday Creekers Club, and no membership is required! It meets on Wednesdays at 7:00 P.M. The Creekers Club incorporates games, a worship time and a video-driven Bible segment, with lots of interaction and extension activities. We use a unifying system to study the Bible and its structure, as well as a children’s perspective of the principles that it coveys.
We use a variety of sources throughout the year. Currently we are working on the “Extraordinary Acts” part of the “Faith Case” series. It is based on the Book of Acts and as a group we accomplish an “Extraordinary Act” every week, through compassion for others. This extends our learning into action in our community.
